2020 gave us plenty of reasons to be upset and the theme of 2021 seems to be hold my beer as the media works to keep us in a state of upset around the most innocuous things. Case in point…

Outrage-Us by Tom Tomorrow via The Nib

Just as we learned in Monsters Inc, the consumer-driven capital system is designed to benefit from people staying in fear, when it’s laughter that holds all the power.

Bottom line: remaining in a state of outrage isn’t going to change a thing, and it’s necessary to sort out and move away from that fire to reach a sustainable future.

Stepping Away From the Fire

1. Become Aware of the Fire

We live in a predatory capitalist system that is designed to keep us in trauma and benefit from that state of being. So, we stay angry, spending all our attention capital on feeding that fire, rather than noticing the real wealth that’s being consumed by those flames.
