2021: Calculating the Price of Magic
All magic comes with a price
I’m not involved with crypto currency. Neither am I a full-time artist.
I am merely infinitely curious about everything, seeking the patterns and testing out how it all fits together.
This article is an exploration of the brightly lit explosion of recent NFT stories and the requisite shadow that accompanies that bright light. The goal is to inform and provide answers where possible, but mostly to emerge questions.
I fully understand why this platform captures the imagination & attention of artists, collectors and other denizens of the creative universe. It seems like the magical solution to a post-Covid world that has lost the places that art has traditionally resided including galleries, studios, museums and other places artists & their patrons convene.
However, as Rumpelstiltskin says, “All magic comes with a price.”
