The term “futurist” most commonly refers to people who attempt to understand the future (sometimes called trend analysis) such as authors, consultants, thinkers, organizational leaders and others who engage in interdisciplinary and systems thinking to advise private and public organizations on such matters as diverse global trends, possible scenarios, emerging market opportunities and risk management. ~ Wikipedia

Imagining, envisioning, projecting and/or predicting what has not been realized. Futuristic thinkers have the ability to look past the events of today and into the possibilities of tomorrow. They can visualize compulsory new ideas about customers, products, services, strategies and business models. ~ Futuristic Thinking

All of us are futurists. We are consistently making guesses about the future, and some are able to detect signals while examining various trends.
