Declaration of Interdependence 2018
I have many happy memories of enjoying fireworks celebrations: Memorial Park as a kid in Houston; Town Lake & Lake Travis in Austin; over the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica; and, for a couple of years, from the deck of private boats in the Caribbean. While we were celebrating American Independence, what really made it memorable was experiencing them together…we were enjoying our independence from the past and deepening our bonds of ‘interdependence’ in these places of oohs & aahs.
Those are just some of the memories on a long journey to this moment when I am joyfully declaring my own need for interdependence and invite others to join me.
My interview with Sheryl Sitts on her podcast Exploring Possibilities last week was the key to open that door and cross the threshold from independence to interdependence, or as I say in the interview, ‘from me to we.’ As a society, we are on a threshold of a connected thriving interdependent life never yet experienced by us as a whole, rooted in shared cultural values & sped by technology. From my own experiences, I am confident that crossing that threshold is the best decision we can make. The lessons of the past are becoming public knowledge and the next step is wisdom.

I hope you enjoy the interview and make your own Declaration of Interdependence as we co-create the story of what’s next, together.
