The Looming Future of Women’s Work

--

Grandmother, the alchemist, you spun gold out of this hard life, conjured beauty from the things left behind. Found healing where it did not live. Discovered the antidote in your own kit. Broke the curse with your own two hands. You passed these instructions down to your daughter who then passed it down to her daughter. ~ Beyonce, ‘Redemption’

We need the spinsters, whose identity has been denigrated in the patriarchal model:

We need the weavers, who have lost their value in a predatory economy.

The three Moirai: Clotho the spinner, Lachesis who measured the thread, and Atropos who cut the thread.
Ruth Glendinning, March 2019

It is these women who weave the fabric of community rooted in the vision and values of community members to create a life of meaning for all.
