What Starts Here…
The University of Texas trademarked the slogan “What Starts Here Changes the World” in 2005. [source: https://brand.utexas.edu/messaging/] However, the ideas that the University of Texas inspired and incubated over its 135 year history affected the world long before the trademark was finalized.
I don’t know what inspired UT to formalize the message, but it reflects the intangible reasons many of us moved here and stayed, becoming the perennials who have made Austin the place that’s attracting 152 people every day.
So, now that we’ve gotten the world’s attention, it’s time to show them how to repair what the ‘moving fast & breaking things’ has done to the balance of our own ecosystem.
It’s time to use our innovative thinking and creative doing to develop an eco-balanced ecosystem rooted in local complex commerce as the model of how communities can really change the world.
